Reading time: just over 3 minutes.
Laura Hoggins mantra is an easy one: nothing looks as good, as being strong feels. Working everyday towards being stronger inside and out, positive, optimistic and ready to face the world, without comparison to anyone else, do it for you, that’s my health and fitness mantra.
Be prepared for the unknown and unknowable, you never know who is going to turn up to training that day, so be quick to adapt to them, even if you spent hours planning to best heavy programme in the world, if your client isn’t into it, adapt.
When and where did you qualify?
January 2015 at PT Academy: because they were accessible and offered an option where I didn’t have to commit to seminars and could plan my assessments and learning around my life.
How would you define your training style?
Strength & Conditioning, mixed with some Olympic Lifting, Strongman and HIIT/Cardio (the not so fun bit!)
Favourite piece of equipment or exercise?
Barbell: it changed my life, the person I am now since I started CrossFit is unrecognisable. The empowerment you feel when you lift is difficult to describe, especially as a female in weightlifting, those stereotypes need to be smashed!
Biggest fitness myth debunked?
Girls that lift weights get bulky – I am trying, and it’s hard!
Favourite classes and gyms…
Strongman at The Foundry, no feeling like it.

Where can your clients usually find you?
CrossFit Hammersmith, KOBOX and The Foundry, they have the best community and feel about them that makes you want to go back and train there all the time.
What is your biggest goal for the next 3/6 months?
I am signed up to compete in a Strongman competition in 12 weeks, so I want to improve my event technique and build my strength and explosive hip with heavy load.
Next challenge booked up…
I am currently competing in the CrossFit Open 2017 – it is absolutely horrible so far… 😉 I love it.
